The wardrobe of her idol Margaret Thatcher was notoriously stuffed with clothes from British brands.

 

And now Prime Minister-to-be Liz Truss is literally following suit – also staying true to British designers while dressing to impress on her way to the No10.

Mrs Thatcher’s most talked about outfits, including her royal blue crepe suit, were from Aquascutum – a label to which she remained loyal throughout her reign. Ms Truss, 47, often turns to high street chain Karen Millen.

For last week’s BBC debate she – like Mrs Thatcher – opted for a royal blue number, a pencil dress priced at around £200. Also last week, she posed at the Houses of Parliament in a green number with a gold chain belt.

 

And the day before she also wore the label that sold Ms Millen in 2016 – this time an orange dress.

 

She’s also a fan of London designer Winser, who wore her £185 lilac Grace Miracle dress as she met Tory members at Fontwell Racecourse in West Sussex.

 

High street chains LK Bennett and Whistles and new website The Fold are other favorites of hers.
