Wool Week
2019 will once again highlight wool’s natural performance qualities and
ecological benefits. Campaign for Wool supporters and retail/brand partners
across the UK will engage in a range of window displays and in-store events,
inviting consumers to ‘Make a Difference’ and to ‘Check it’s Wool’ ahead of
purchase in a drive to reduce plastic and micro-fibre pollution to the earth. A
series of craft workshops will be arranged and communicated in due course
Peter
Ackroyd, COO The Campaign for Wool said “Wool regulates your body temperature
far better than any other fibre, keeping you in what is known as ‘the thermal
comfort zone’. You therefore not only fall asleep quicker and sleep longer, but
also have deeper, better quality sleep.”
“We are
pleased to have the support of the Campaign for Wool Supporters in the creation
of the wool well-being space at the Embassy, these include Johnstons of Elgin,
DAKS, Hotta Carpets, Nishikawa Co. Ltd, AW Hainsworth, Smalls, Janie Withers,
Abraham Moon & Sons, Joshua Ellis (Escorial Wool), Smalls, Allbirds,
MamaOwl, Wool&Prince, and with special thanks to John Smedley.”
The Prince
of Wales noted in launching his Campaign: “Wool is a product that the most
brilliant boffin in the most hi-tech laboratory could never create.”
“From our
family farm here in the Lake District, Cumbria, I have developed a range of
Herdwick tweeds. They are sold by the meter for upholstery, curtaining and
clothing.”
“We sell
our tweeds by the metre for any creative project, as well as offering a small
capsule collection of British made ready to wear and accessories. We also offer
an inhouse made to measure tailoring service for both men and women, tailoring
any style of jacket, trousers, skirts, waistcoats and coats in any of our
unique tweeds.”
