Pitti Uomo will take place at Fortezza da Basso in Florence from June 14 to 17, 2022. The show dedicated to contemporary men's fashion will once again take place over four days and no longer three as in previous editions, nor will it take place at the same time as Pitti Bimbo, as was the case in the last two editions.

The event will host 640 brands (38% of them from abroad), 100 more than those of last January edition–of whose mostly research brands, newcomers and additional products to be offered along with fashion reflecting an in cresisng need of stores to enlarge their offer of products.

The organization expects about 15,000 operators, although in the pre-pandemic editions only it used to count 20,000 buyers, while in the January 2022 edition it registered a total of 10,000 operators, including 5,900 buyers.

While trying to bring back the show to its past normal organisation and projects, the industry has been facing significant changes, at all levels, the show's organisers pointed out. "The supply chain is becoming always more important," commented Claudio Marenzi, president, Pitti Immagine. "Once we used to say that important was selling and then a way to produce could always be found. Now the situation has radically changed and first you have to understand how to produce. Our task now is to redesign the overall system and create something totally new," he added.

International buyers have already confirmed their presence and include Al Tayer (UAE), Beecroft Bull (US), Bergdorf Goodman (US), Beymen (Turkey), Braun (Germany), Bloomingdale's (US), Browns (UK), Engelhorn (Germany), Fashion Club 70 (Belgium), Fenwick (UK), Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof (Germany), Galeries Lafayette (France), Giulio Cinque (UK), Harry Rosen (Canada), Harvey Nichols (Kuwait, UK, Qatar and UK), Holt Renfrew (Canada), Kadewe (Germany), Lane Crawford (Hong Kong), Layers (UK), J Kith (USA), Kurt Geiger (UK), La Samaritaine (France), Level Shoes (UAE), Liberty (UK), MAF (Emirates), Santa Eulalia (Spain) and Tsum (Russia).

Welcome to Pitti Island

Pitti Island will be the guiding theme for summer 2022 because it is inspired by an imaginary island, connected with the whole world in a mutual and constant exchange. "It will be a land with selected botany, sociable and open, at times fun, thoughtful and engaging, sensitive to ideas, to meet, to be together before resuming, each, his or her own journey," explains Agostino Poletto, general director of Pitti Immagine.

Special events and special birthdays

Guest Designer of Pitti Uomo 102 is Grace Wales Bonner. The Anglo-Jamaican-born designer will preview the new Spring-Summer 2023 collection of her namesake brand, Wales Bonner.

Soulland, a Copenhagen-based brand led by Silas Oda Adler, will present its s/s 2023 collection at Pitti Uomo with a fashion show-event. Silas Oda Adler and his team will bring their vision of timeless yet deeply rooted in a responsible approach through a special showcase. Soulland is a brand dedicated to a socially just and environmentally responsible future, with an open and transparent vision to business and collaborations.

Some exceptional celebrations will take center stage at the event. Among them there will be the 70th anniversary of Roy Rogers, 40 years of WP Work In Progress, and the first 10th birthday of Save The Duck.

A new project will make its debut. Incotex Blue Division will launch the denim line "Denim Meets Sartorial," created in partnership with Giada.

Other collaborations will include Pierre Louis Mascia with Diadora, North Sails x Maserati and an ovevrall redesign of the Robe Di Kappa brand.

Ukraine's fashion meets Florence

Special guest of the event will be some brands from Ukraine invited to Florence to present their collections. Some Ukraine designers had already participated Pitti as part of the Ukraine Guest Nation in 2016. Now they return in a dedicated space inside the Fortezza da Basso hosting the collections of brands including T. Moscow, Katerina Kvit, The Coat, Poustovit, Ksenia Schneider, Bobkova and Litkovska, as well as special "arts & crafts" creations by Olk Manufacture and Gunia Project.
