Sir Osbert Lancaster
(1908-1986) was a great British humorist, an authority on
architecture and design, a painter, writer, poet and theatre
designer. His pocket cartoons appeared in the Daily Express for over
40 years. He wrote a string of books on architecture, design and
English life, as well as travelogues on Greece and the Eastern
