The U.K.’s
Prince Charles has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating, his
office said Thursday.
A statement
posted on Charles’ official Twitter account said the heir to the British throne
was “deeply disappointed” that he could not attend events in Winchester, where
he was set to unveil a statue of Licoricia of Winchester. He will look to
reschedule his visit as soon as possible, the statement said.
On
Wednesday night Charles met dozens of people, including U.K. Chancellor Rishi
Sunak and Home Secretary Priti Patel, during a reception at the British Museum.
The
73-year-old had previously contracted the coronavirus in March 2020. Charles
said in December that he had already received his coronavirus booster jab
